about

Hello Bandcampers!

My previous releases this year have been somewhat in the lofi realm. They have also been mostly tracks that I did around the summer of 2018. I’m departing from that with Dancing Sunsets.

For the last couple of years, I've mostly been working with sequencers. I still do, but this year I've also gotten a couple of proper keyboards synths in the studio again. I wouldn't have thought this made such a huge difference, but somehow it did. I has made me make more melodic music again, a development I quite like.

The title track is a track I made earlier this year which is a good example of just that. I'd say it's a somewhat blissed out (for lack of a better description) deep house track, with some lush chords from my Juno 106 and a couple of tinkling melodies, mainly played live on another keyboard synth (an SH-101 if you're into such things).

'What Problem?" on the other hand is a track I made back in 2017. Like many other ideas, I couldn’t get it to work properly at the time, so I ended up putting it away. I stumbled upon it again near the end of 2018 and realized that there was something there. Basically it just needed to be stripped down significantly and have a few parts replaced. I added some chords from the Juno (again) and a new bassline from my SH-101. And it suddenly worked. It has become apparent to me over the last couple of years that time away from your own work is your best friend when making music.

Both tracks havs been mixed and mastered by Matt Karmil. Matt is a good friend of mine and a great engineer. He’s also a great artist. You should check his work out if you aren’t familiar with him. I’m extremely happy with the work he’s done on this. He’s made sure the track will sound really friggin good on whatever big sound system you decide to throw it at.

Hope you enjoy it! :-)
